BELIEFS & COMMITMENTS

Foundational Beliefs

We all believe in these Biblical teachings that have helped form the foundation of the Christian faith throughout history:

  • God exists eternally in three persons:

       Father. Son. Holy Spirit.

  • God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things

       (Hebrews 11:3)

  • Jesus is the Son of God, the promised Messiah (Christ), the rightful Lord of the universe

       (Acts 2:36)

  • He died for the sins of all and in his body he rose from the grave and appeared to many eye-witnesses

       (1 Corinthians 15:4-8, Acts 2:32)

  • He ascended to the right hand of the Father where he intercedes for us

       (Romans 8:34)

  • He is the head of the church, his body

       (Colossians 1:18)

  • Only through faith and baptism into Jesus Christ can we come to the Father

       (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38, John 14:6)

  • The Holy Spirit is the empowering presence of God dwelling among God’s people today

       (Ephesians 2:19-22)

Shared Beliefs

Our teaching, fellowship, and activities are informed and shaped by these beliefs:

• The Bible is the authoritative and

   trustworthy word of God

• Salvation is by God’s grace

   (Ephesians 2:8)

and includes the forgiveness of sins

   (Colossians 1:13-14)

and a transformed life of Spirit-guided,

   grace-filled, love-oriented obedience to

   our Lord Jesus Christ

   (2 Corinthians 3:17-18)

• Every believer is called to be a disciple of

   Jesus

   (Matthew 28:19-20)

• We are part of the global church and we

are committed to work toward unity and

peace with our brothers and sisters in

   other churches throughout the world

   (John 17:20-21)

the common good according to the grace
